We arrived at Livingston Montana to stay at Osen's RV Park for seven nights on 11 May 2025. We had rain on and off for much of our drive from Buffalo Wyoming. We arrived around 2pm and the park manager said rain was expected at 2:30pm, so we set up with a little more pep in our step. We decided to go for a walk around the campground to get at least a few steps in after traveling most of the day. The rain actually started around 5pm, but then it rained most of the time through the night and the next day. It wasn't a hard rain, but with temps in the high 50's and down to the high 30's that night, it wasn't inviting to go out. We did venture out to downtown Livingston Monday afternoon. We went to the Visitor's Center and found out about all the local happenings that week. They told us about a musical production of "Grease" at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts and that peaked Anita's interest. The play is performed by the local high school students. We purchased tickets for Thursday the 15th. We also learned about the Chico Hot Springs, which peaked Steve's interest. After the Visitor Center we took a walk around Sacajawea Park.
On Tuesday 13 May, we had an appointment at 1pm for an oil change and tire rotation in Livingston. We got that done and learned that our brake pads were worn and should be replaced. So we made an appointment for Saturday the 17th, since we were leaving on Sunday.

On Wednesday 14 May we took a walk on the Livingston Depot Center Trail. It's a nice trail system around the town of Livingston. We walked around for a while to get some distance and then after lunch we drove out to Chico Hot Springs Resort to get information on the pools and we found out about other local hikes to waterfalls. At Chico Hot Springs Resort, we learned about a few hikes, but decided we'd like to check out the Pine Creek Waterfall. So before heading home we drove to the Pine Creek Falls Trailhead, which felt very remote and far from civilization. With errands and chores yet to do we only had Thursday to hike to the Pine Creek Waterfall.

Thursday 15 May we drove to the Pine Creek Falls Trailhead and arrived around 9:45am (Anita slept late that morning). It was raining lightly when we arrived then it stopped, so we decided to bundle up and head out for the hike. We thought it would be somewhat dry with thick canopy from the trees along the trail. We pretty much had the trail to ourselves on the way up except for a young lady and her dog. She told us about a stream we'd have to cross just before the falls. The information we had about the hike said it was 2.5 miles round trip, but we found it to be closer to 3 miles round trip. It was well worth the effort when we reached the 100 ft tall waterfall. It was beautiful!
Steve spent a couple of hours in the hot springs after lunch. Anita doesn't like the hot springs, so for her, it's a good time to read. We had tickets to see "Grease" that night at 7:30pm. We got home around 4pm, so we had plenty of time to get cleaned up, have dinner and then head to the musical. It was a fun evening and the high school kids did a great job with the production. A couple of the kids didn't project enough for the venue, but overall we were glad we went.

On Friday 16 May we had errands to run in Bozeman Montana, which is about 30 miles from Livingston. Before taking care of errands, we decided to drive to Three Forks Montana which is past Bozeman in the same direction, to see Missouri Headwaters State Park. This is where three rivers, the Gallatin, the Jefferson and the Madison Rivers end to start the Missouri River. We walked along the trails leading to the confluence of two of the rivers Jefferson and Madison and where the Gallatin flows into the Missouri.
After Missouri Headwaters State Park, we went to Bozeman to grocery shop, fuel up the truck and make a laptop donation. Earlier in the week we had purged quite a few things we haven't used since we've been on the road. We want our "rig" to be as efficient and light as possible for our trip to Alaska next week. We can honestly say that we use everything we currently have now.

Our last outing in Livingston Montana was to attend mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 6pm Saturday. We had a productive day with Steve taking the truck in for it's brake pad and rotor replacement and Anita doing laundry and other cleaning around the camper while he was gone.

Tomorrow, Sunday 18 May 2025, we drive 250 miles to Florence Montana where our friends Darrell and Joanie have built a house. They are friends who used to live in Easton Maryland and moved to Montana about a year ago. We're excited to see their new home and spend time with them. The hardest part of being full time travelers is missing friends and a sense of community, so I'm sure we'll have a blast with Darrell and Joanie. From their house we leave for Alaska! Saturday 24 May, we'll leave Montana and spend that night in Canada. We plan to take 10 days to drive the 2200+ miles to Tok Alaska. We have a reservation in Tok for 2 June, so we hope to be in Alaska by then.

We are so excited for you guys! Have fun!
