On Monday 3 August 2026 we drove from Gaspe Quebec to Campbellton New Brunswick. It started raining about a third of the way into our trip. We were happy to finally arrive even though we had to set up in light rain. It was just good to be there. Being tired and not having anything defrosted to cook, we ate dinner at the restaurant attached to the campground office. It was closing at 7pm so we went at 6pm. We are on Atlantic Time this week so an hour ahead of EDT. On the drive to get here our phones and the truck kept switching back and forth between EDT and Atlantic Time. We had to ask when we arrived what time it was. It turned out to be a Province holiday that day. It was New Brunswick Day and many places were closed. Our campground was close to the South entrance of Sugarloaf Provincial Park. There wasn’t much besides the provincial park to see, but we had a few maintenance things to do with cleaning and computer stuff so we stayed at the campground a lot.

Tuesday 4 August we woke up to continuing rain after it had rained all night. We hung around the campsite waiting for all the weather to pass. The rain stopped around noon, but the wind was somewhat ferocious. Anita worked on the blog posting for Gaspe for several hours. We had taken many pictures there. Around 5pm we went out to get groceries. Walmart was just 8 minutes from the campground. We got the essentials to tide us over until we got back to the US. Super Walmart in Canada doesn’t seem to be as big as the ones in the US.

Wednesday 5 August we had a sunny day so Steve washed the camper. It looks new again! Anita did the laundry and some cleaning inside.

Thursday 6 Aug, we went out to see Campbellton and Sugarloaf Provincial Park. It was another hot and humid day so most of our site seeing was from the truck or short strolls by the water. Steve took a path to a scenic overlook at Sugarloaf Provincial Park, but he said it wasn’t worth the heat and humidity with it being overgrown. Sugarloaf Provincial Park seems to be a mountain biker’s dream with trails galore. Rugged terrain down a mountain on a bike is not Anita’s idea of fun, but there were lots of people of all ages there anxious to ride the trails. Anita stayed in the truck and made a couple of calls to verify that mass will be in English Sunday at 11am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Campbellton. We saw the sign in English saying mass is at 11am, but we have found that English and French are spoken back and forth seamlessly among locals. Anita received a voicemail from the church saying that mass is in English, so we planned to go. We got back to the campground around 3pm and it was 92 degrees! We just stayed inside in the air conditioning the rest of the day. Steve cooked outside later, but it was still hot.
