Rockport Maine - 21 August 2026
We arrived at Exeter New Hampshire on 21 August 2026. We stayed at Winding River Campground for four nights. We are making our way south to eventually get to Maryland September 2nd. We'll be in Maryland for two weeks to see friends and see how our old town has changed. The highlight of our stay in Exeter was Steve's fishing trip out of Seabrook New Hampshire. It was an all day (7am-3:30pm) trip with lots of people on the boat and that didn't appeal to Anita so she had a day to herself. Anita went for a 5-mile walk a little after 7am (right after Steve's boat left) and then enjoyed sitting on an Adirondack chair outside the fishing charter office. It's amazing how fast a day goes by when one has things to look up on the phone and a book to read. Originally Anita was going to drop Steve off and go back to the campground after a couple of errands. After Kennebunkport Maine on Sunday we stopped in Seabrook to see where Steve had to be Monday. It looked much more inviting than the campground for Anita, so she decided to stay around the marina and beach while Steve was fishing.

Steve remembers hearing about a leakage there in 1999 when he worked in Boston in the early 2000's
We ended up going to mass Saturday evening at 4pm at St. Michael Catholic Church in Exeter NH. It was a nice mass and we realized we had missed being able to clearly understand the priest. We went out for dinner after mass and enjoyed the best Mexican food we'd had since before we left for Quebec. It was a great evening!

Sunday 23 August we drove to Kennebunkport Maine to see the Bush family's summer home. It was only about 30 minutes from our campground in New Hampshire. It was nice to see the peaceful location of a presidential home. The interpretive signs talked about George HW Bush being an active member of the local community. He frequented local businesses and was well liked. We turned around and headed back home for Steve to get his fishing gear in order for his fishing on Monday.
