We arrived at East Harbor State Park on Lake Erie Marblehead Peninsula Ohio on Sunday 31 May 2026 to stay for five nights. We wanted to go out on Lake Erie for walleye fishing one day and we had made a reservation for Wednesday the 3rd of June. East Harbor State Park is a beautiful place with lots of walking and hiking paths, birding, bicycling and boat launches. Our time here has flown by!
On Monday 1 June, we drove into Port Clinton to see the charter boats coming in. We also stopped in at the company with which we were booked later in the week. They told us that day that the wind should be dying down by the time we went. Port Clinton was pretty quiet when we were there, with most of the activity being with the fishing charters.

Tuesday (2 June) we road our bicycles around East Harbor State Park and checked out the beach and boat launch. It was a great day for biking and we really enjoyed it. We only rode about 5 miles at the most, which was perfect. We have a tendency to overdo it when we take our bikes out, but this time was just right. That afternoon we drove out to see the Marblehead Lighthouse. We had seen it back in 2023 when we stayed in Sandusky Ohio, but we couldn't go inside. This time we got to go to the top of the lighthouse. It was fun!

Wednesday (3 June) was the day of our fishing trip. We woke up at 4:30am and were out the door at 6am. The boat was leaving at 7am and we checked in around 6:20am. This company has an outline of the boat and numbers for fishing spots on the boat. We picked our spots and were given little tickets with our spot-numbers. This was different than Anita's ever done on a fishing charter. Usually people are lined up on the dock as early as two hours before leaving and everyone rushes onto the boat to get the spot they want. The fishing was disappointing, with Anita hardly getting a bite standing for 4 hours trying, and Steve only catching a couple keepers. Steve reeled in a couple of Sheepsheads, but they were thrown back. Anita caught a big catfish right at the end. It was fun to catch, but there were no walleye for Anita this trip. The Miss Cindy had motored out an hour and a half before we stopped to fish. Anita received a "Welcome to Canada" text!

Today, we're hanging out at our campsite getting little repair projects done and starting to get things ready for leaving tomorrow. We'll likely go grocery shopping this afternoon before we leave as our next stop is more remote with fewer grocery shopping opportunities. We want to have a campfire this evening too. We love our life!
