Chicken Alaska 3 June 2025

Besides being a good stop for laundry and general cleaning after the long trek to get to Alaska, Tok doesn't have much to do. So on 3 June we drove the Taylor Highway from Tok to Chicken, then kept driving on the Taylor highway to miles 105 of it, and turned around.  This highway was more of the same rough roads we had just traveled on our last two days of travel to get to Alaska, so we were more than ready to be done with those roads. The highlight of the day trip was seeing Caribou! We had dinner at Fast Eddy’s which is recommended in the Milepost book, and was recommended by the lady at the Beaver Creek visitor center in Yukon Canada.

On 4 June we decided to rest since we are driving to Valdez the next day.  We ventured out to try the Tok Visitor Center again and we were very surprised to run into a couple we’d met in February at the Quartzsite Arizona Grand Design Rally.  Darrell and Teresa are traveling with another couple and they came in on the Top of the World Highway through Chicken a couple of days ago pulling their 5th wheel campers.  We thought they were way ahead of us in Alaska, so we enjoyed exchanging stories about the trip up and agreed to stay in touch especially since both guys in the couples want to do a lot of fishing.  After parting with Darrell and Teresa, we went to the Fish and Game office across the street to get our non-resident fishing licenses.
